What makes a ‘good day’ at a childcare center?

A good day at a child care centre involves a safe and nurturing environment, engaging activities, positive interactions between children and caregivers, effective communication with parents, and a balance of learning and play.

What’s the best/worst thing about being a childcare worker (RECE or Assistant)?

The best thing about being a childcare worker for me is the opportunity to positively impact a child’s development and witness their growth. The challenging aspect for me is that handling emotional demands and occasional stress associated with the responsibility of caring for young children.

How do you remember all of the children’s names?

I often use repetition, association techniques, and visual cues to remember children’s names. Practice and engaging with each child regularly can also help me build familiarity and make it easier to remember their names over time.

If you could take the children on a field trip to anywhere in the world, where would you take them?

Taking children to the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) in Toronto would be an enriching experience. The museum offers a wide range of exhibits, from natural history to cultural artifacts, providing an educational and captivating adventure. Also, a visit to the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C., would be an engaging and educational field trip. It offers a fascinating exploration of aviation and space history, inspiring curiosity and learning.
